On my morning walk the other day, there were fierce winds happening. We don’t have that often. I was praying as I was walking and asking God to guide and direct my thinking for that day because I was obsessing on a problem I had been dealing with for some time. When I surrendered the problem to God (finally), The thought He gave me was, “winds of change”
This reminded me that the only thing I can change is me. Change my thoughts, my focus, my actions. I cannot change the “problem” over there. This also reminds me of the daily Serenity Prayer. This is the extended version below:
The Serenity Prayer
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right, if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.”
My favorite line in that extended version is “Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it.”
“Not as I would have it” phrase actually calms me, knowing that God has everything and I don’t have to “figure it all out!”
If I could, I would.
I can’t, so I won’t.
Thank you, God.
No fear, just faith.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
